Peanut Butter Cookies

A classic cookie.

1/2 c shortening
3/4 c peanut butter
1 1/4 c brown sugar
1 egg
3 tbsp milk
1 tbsp vanilla
1 3/4 c flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt

Cream shortening, peanut butter and brown sugar until smooth, then stir in egg, vanilla, and milk. In a seperate bowl, mix flour, baking soda and salt, then stir into the peanut butter mixture and blend until you have a smooth lump. Roll into spoonful-sized balls and place on a cookie sheet. Place 1/3 cup sugar in a small, shallow bowl and coat the tines of a fork with the sugar. Press the dipped fork firmly on the top of each cookie-ball, and again crosswise. Dip and press each cookie this way.

Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees F, and allow cookies to cool 5 minutes before attempting to move.
